Cowling Oil Buying Cooperative
| Cobco is a domestic heating oil purchasing coop for neighbouring households in the Cowling area of North Yorkshire | - In August 2008, we succesfully started a neighbourhood bulk purchasing scheme for heating oil with the aim of saving ourselves money and to reduce the environmental impact of deliveries of heating oil by tanker.
Savings: On our first order, members saved approximately 4 to 5 pence per litre, or £40 to £50 per 1000 litres ordered. The retail price of heating oil has fallen since then, so savings may be less, at around £30 per 1000 litres. However, it is usually the case that if an individual orders a smaller volume, say between 500-800 litres, they pay a higher price than someone ordering 900 litres or more. COBCO can iron out that price differentail so you can order as little as 500 litres but pay the same price per litre as someone ordering 1000 litres or more. The Co-op aims to attract the lowest prices.

Newsflash: COBCO Goes From Strength to Strength! |

COBCO made its first purchase in August 2008 when we took delivery of a combined total 6000 liters of heating oil to just 8 members. It is now March 2009 and we now have over 20 member. Our latest delivery was for in excess of 16,000 litres. We are now in an even better posotion to negotiate discounts from our suppliers. Keep an eye on the COBCO news sectio. |
