WHO STARTED COBCO?

COBCO was started by a group of  half a dozen neighbours fed up with high heating oil prices, poor customer service and low quality fuel. Following advice from other oil buying groups in the UK, we realised we could do it ourselves.

HOW DO I JOIN?

COBCO membership is now free! However we do make a very small admin charge of just 25 pence per order to cover banking fees.  Membership is available to anyone living within our geographical area who burns heating oil for domestic consumption. Just register on this web site or send us a message. We will get in touch by email or phone to confirm orders &  requests.

HOW DO I PAY FOR MY ORDER ?

COBCO has a bank account, administered by two of the original members, the secretary and the organiser. When you order your oil, you can either send us a cheque for the value, payable to COBCO, or contact us for details of on line internet banking transfer. COBCO pays the supplier in one transaction, thus helping to save costs. In order to keep down banking costs members must pay for their oil as soon as possible after the total price is confirmed.

WHAT ARE COBCO's AIMS?

Our aims are to save money for members and to cut down on pollution of the environment by minimising the miles travelled by delivery tankers. We also use suppliers whose fuel is clean and of high burning quality.

HOW DO I ORDER?

Please register on this web site and then use the on line order request form. Or call the organiser by phone or send an email using the contact form.

HOW IS MY ORDER DELIVERED?

Our suppliers deliver your order, minimum 500 litres, in their registered and approved tankers. COBCO does not have a depot or it's own tankers. Many of our members have limited or restricted access and we always use a supplier who opperates a "baby" tanker.

HOW OFTEN DO YOU SUPPLY MEMBERS?

We have established a pattern of one order in each of the colder months. This reflects current demand. Orders are usually  taken leading up to the first two weeks of the month for group delivery in the third week. Unlike the major suppliers, you cannot order from COBCO and expect delivery within a few days. Neither can you specify a delivery day. However you will be told when to expect delivery.  All our orders are grouped and then delivered on one or two tankers in one day.
